Amsterdam - footbridge in Vondelpark (redux)

11 February 2011
14" x 18", acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
This one's painted on primed cotton canvas rather than the usual Arches watercolor paper.  I'd painted versions of this back in 2009 (posted 16 January 2010).

In other news, I added a couple of paintings to my showing at Vivace, as the sale of two of them was finalized.  I've already posted the paintings on this blog, on 15 February 2011 (5" x 7", Bradford, United Kingdom), and 19 February 2011 (8" x 10", Fiesole, Italy).  I also added them to "Travel Log" at Vivace.

Haworth, United Kingdom - Top Withins

16 February 2011
5" x 7", acrylic on paper
During my visit to Haworth to visit the Bronte parsonage (back in 1999 - I can't believe it was so long ago), I walked about the moors.  Not surprisingly, I didn't run into Heathcliff or Mr. Rochester - just a lot of sheep.  I visited Top Withins, thought to be the inspiration for Heathcliff's home, Wuthering Heights.

cat-approved alphabet - "A"

"A" is for anchovies, especially fine on pizza.
4 March 2011
10" x 6", gouache on paper
No surprise, our small grey cat is editing this alphabet series.  As everything has to be approved by our cat, I already foresee some challenges coming up with some of the letters, but, hey, I thought I'd give it a whirl.  We'll see how many of the letters of the alphabet I can use.  To be continued in weekly installments...

Virtual Paintout submission

I just sent my submission to Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout for March, Cape Town, South Africa.  Click <here> for the Google map reference I used.
5 March 2011
8" x 10", acrylic on paper
In related news, I just discovered that Google now has street views of a number of parks and gardens, including a number of UK National Trust sites.  While armchair traveling and painting can't beat the real thing, I'm such a glutton for finding subject matter to paint that the virtual access will at least tie me over till my next excursion, which can't be soon enough (but I'd prefer it a little warmer before I venture far out the door).
