Credit for the reference picture for this painting goes to my husband. It's from our 2008 trip to Budapest, Hungary (and also Vienna, Austria).
In other news, I recently visited the
White Lotus Gallery in Eugene, Oregon. They had some lovely traditional and contemporary pieces by primarily Asian artists. The contemporary works often integrated Eastern techniques and themes in their works. I was rather struck by them since I'm more used to seeing derivations and reactions to European art traditions. I particularly liked the works of Chang-Ae Song on view, abstracted urban pieces done in Sumi ink on rice paper. The gallery's website has some examples of her work.
