in progress... canal outside Bruges, Belgium - 4

I clocked in about three hours of painting last night at Happy Hour at Koldshoulder Working Gallery...

Thanks to everyone for stopping by (including artist Michael Lindstrom and author Victoria Lindstrom, whom I follow here on BlogSpot and on Facebook.  It was nice to finally meet them in person!)

I spent a couple more hours at Koldshoulder Working Gallery today, hanging out there with Patrick Zahn, and made some progress on the painting:
painting as it stands today...
I hope to be able to get back to it soon.

Must... keep... painting...

Canal outside Bruges, Belgium - 3

28 June 2013 - canal outside Bruges, Belgium
18" x 24", acrylic on Ampersand Gessobord
I finally completed the painting I'd started at Koldshoulder Working Gallery, just in time for Happy Hour tonight.  I finished it up at my own studio space, so I'll lug it back, along with the painting I worked on during Koldshoulder's First Thursday earlier this month.

Here's a last "in-progress" shot.

Granada - 19

28 June 2013 - Granada
14" x 11", acrylic on Arches 120 lb hot press
Here are some "in progress" shots of the painting:

As you can see, I decided to take out one of the windows and simplify one of the buildings in the final painting.  The buildings were outlined with colored pencil this time to try and give them sharper definition.

preliminary sketch - canal scene outside Bruges, Belgium

I've been inspired by the other artists at Koldshoulder Working Gallery to go even bigger.  This canvas is 30"x40" (stretched, gessoed cotton, 7/8" depth)...  I did a preliminary sketch this afternoon at the gallery.  It's another view of the canal just outside Bruges, Belgium.  I plan to start painting it at the happy hour event tomorrow (starts at 5pm).  We'll see how far I get by the end of the evening (and how it turns out).

I'm still working on the other canal scene.  I hope to finish it by tomorrow.  Stay tuned!

I was able to hang out with Sean Kalley at Koldshoulder Working Gallery for a few hours today, paint more.  I'm getting closer to being finished...

in-progress painting (at Koldshoulder Working Gallery)

Today I started a painting over at Koldshoulder Working Gallery, hanging out for a bit with Sean Kalley, Patrick Zahn, and Davey Cadaver, before I had to get back home to my pup, Nigel.  I still have quite a bit to go on this one.  I'm hoping to be able to get back to work again on it very soon :-) .  It's a view of a canal just outside Bruges, Belgium.  My husband and I biked along it during our visit to Belgium four years ago.

upcoming Happy Hour at Koldshoulder Working Gallery

Another Koldshoulder Working Gallery event!
Happy Hour in the Gallery - 28 June, Friday, 5-8pm
Sean Kalley and Patrick Zahn of Koldshoulder Working Gallery, are planning another event, slated for 28 June, Friday, beginning at 5pm.  I'm planning on painting during the event, as I believe some of the other artists are, too.  Anyone local, please feel free to come on over (then and during regular gallery hours)!

I'm also posting these on Facebook, so sorry for the redundancy.  Facebook decided I was spamming by linking to this blog, so I'm not cross-pollinating between the two anymore :-( ...

in-progress painting from First Thursday at Koldshoulder Working Gallery

These are sequential pics I took of the painting I worked on outside Koldshoulder Working Gallery during First Thursday.  It started getting dark before I could finish it.

I also posted some pics of the event on Facebook, showing works of Sean Kalley, Patrick Zahn, Davey Cadaver, Carol Duvernois, Luis Ramirez, Ron Berg, and myself.

Thanks to Sean Kalley and Patrick Zahn for arranging the event, and thanks to all who stopped by!

in and around Valldemossa - 30

I painted a different version of this way back in January 2012.

First Thursday at Koldshoulder Working Gallery tomorrow...

Koldshoulder Working Gallery - First Thursday, 6 June 2013
I'd posted an announcement of this last month, but thought I'd post again now, since the event is happening tomorrow.  This is actually an updated banner that rightly includes Carol DuVernois as one of the artists.

I'm planning on bringing my painting things with me and will attempt to do some painting during the course of the evening.  Other artists are planning to, as well.

Those of you who are local, hope to see you there! :-)
