back from Greece
The husband and I just returned from an adventure in Greece. Our small grey cat accompanied us, at least in spirit (our real cat-friend spent the time in a cat spa while we were gone).
While in Santorini, we came across the art gallery of Makis Efthymios Warlamis, who had these gorgeous, evocative landscape paintings of Santorini. I found the website for his architectural/design/art studio (in Austria). I wish we'd gotten at least a print of one of the paintings, now that we're some 2230 or so miles away. All I have to show of it is a photograph of the entrance to his art gallery.
In Athens, amongst the very many other places we visited, we went to the National Art Gallery. I particularly enjoyed works of the 18th-19th century Greek artists Georgios Iakovidis, Michael Economou, Nikos Lytras, and Konstantinos Maleas.

a farewell to summer
It's not officially autumn yet, but yesterday it started raining here in Portland, with the forecast calling for more grey and rain into next week, so I thought I'd post the last of the summer-themed cat pictures.

Hillsboro, Oregon (or thereabouts) - neighborhood park
My husband and his team were filming at this locale for their entry into the 48 Hour Film Project, mentioned in a previous posting.

Hood River, Oregon - en plein air
We were in Hood River at the end of July; my husband was one of the groomsmen in a friend's wedding. While he rehearsed, I was able to get in some painting of the views. A few studio-based paintings also resulted from this trip, which I'll post in upcoming days.

Vienna - Schonbrunn Palace fountain from a different perspective
I painted another version of this fountain, which I posted about a week ago. This one, like others I posted recently, is based on a photograph taken by my husband. The earlier one was from my own photograph, which was lower (I'm a lot shorter than him), less panoramic, and less symmetrically framed.
